signing statements allow the president at the time a law is made to leave his mark on the law forever. that's not a problem if all of your presidents over the years think the same way, we don't elect our presidents that way. they think differently and act differently, so when a new president signs a law. he may use a statement that contradicts a law implemented by a former president, thus creating conflicts that can result in further trouble down the line. it also gives the president the ability to, through clever word use. exclude a individual or group from having to obey said law. the presidents job requires him to enforce the laws, but this gives him the opportunity to alter the exact same laws that he is supposed to enforce. signing statements might have worked better back in the day. when the president was elected on his values and aspirations. but today presidents are elected by how much money they have, and what political party they belong to. today presidents have secret agendas and aren't entirely who they say they are. signing statements allow these presidents to express there hidden agenda.
